Commonwealth Medical Trust (Commat)
General Information
Commat (the Commonwealth Medical Trust) is an independent organization, which exists for the promotion of health, the prevention of disease and disability and the advancement of human rights and medical ethics, particularly for the poor, vulnerable and marginalized groups in developing countries. It is concerned particularly with the role that should be played by health professionals and their associations in carrying out its programme, especially in Commonwealth countries.

More than 1,600 Palestinian prisoners have agreed to end their hunger strike in exchange for concessions by Israel, including a modification to its practice of detention without charge or trial.
As of June 1st 2012, the IFHHRO International Secretariat in Utrecht, the Netherlands, will be closed. The secretarial work of IFHHRO will continue with less capacity and with volunteers.
