Action Group for Health, Human Rights and HIV/Aids, AGHA
General Information
The Action Group for Health, Human Rights and HIV/AIDS (AGHA) is an indigenous Non-Governmental Organization (NGO)
founded in July 2003 to mobilize health professionals and health consumers to address issues of human rights as they relate to
health, with a specific focus on HIV/AIDS. AGHA brings together doctors, nurses and other professionals with NGOs interested in
promoting human rights in the health sector to create local and national networks dedicated to health advocacy.

Main Activities
- Training and educating health providers and the communities they serve on global health advocacy and the relationship between health and human rights;
- Conducting advocacy and media publicity for observation of human rights;
- Researching aspects of human rights violations that impair health;
- Networking and collaborating with other human rights organizations to advocate for human rights-based health policies and programs.

More than 1,600 Palestinian prisoners have agreed to end their hunger strike in exchange for concessions by Israel, including a modification to its practice of detention without charge or trial.
As of June 1st 2012, the IFHHRO International Secretariat in Utrecht, the Netherlands, will be closed. The secretarial work of IFHHRO will continue with less capacity and with volunteers.
