The resource Mental Health Advocacy & Human Rights: Your Guide was published by the British Institute of Human Rights as part of its Human Rights in Healthcare project. The guide is designed to assist advocates in Britain working with people with mental health problems, as well as their clients.

The resource offers information about key human rights relevant to mental health and about the UK Human Rights Act. It also contains real-life examples of how advocates have used human rights to secure better treatment for people with mental health problems. Useful flowcharts have been added which advocates can use to identify human rights issues and develop a course of action.
