India: Binayak Sen
At the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day (March 24th), a group of health workers have issued an appeal to the World Health Organization asking this organization to pay attention to the fate of the Indian doctor Binayak Sen, who has been imprisoned for several years.
The full text of the letter can be found on the Free Binayaksen website. Eventually, fourteen health organisations and 178 individual health workers endorsed the letter.

Update 16 April 2011
On 15 April, the Supreme Court of India granted bail to Binayak Sen. The court said that the evidence on record proves no sedition case against Sen. All other legal proceedings will continue in the Bilaspur high court. Previously, a district and sessions court had convicted Dr. Sen on various charges, including sedition, and had sentenced him to life imprisonment. Dr. Sen is currently fighting this decision.

More than 1,600 Palestinian prisoners have agreed to end their hunger strike in exchange for concessions by Israel, including a modification to its practice of detention without charge or trial.
As of June 1st 2012, the IFHHRO International Secretariat in Utrecht, the Netherlands, will be closed. The secretarial work of IFHHRO will continue with less capacity and with volunteers.
