Neglecting quality in healthcare

An analysis of 20 high-level documents produced by the World Health Organization (WHO)​ and the Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research shows that these documents have paid insufficient attention to quality healthcare. Since the quality of services is one of the four elements of the right to health (along with availability, accessibility, and acceptability), this is a neglected area. “… WHO and other global actors will need to raise the profile of health system quality in their support to countries and in normative guidance”, the authors state in The Lancet Global Health.
