In 2019, IFHHRO Secretary and former physician Adriaan van Es worked as a medical volunteer in the Moria refugee camp on the island of Lesbos, Greece. Based on his experiences, he has made a human rights analysis of the situation in this camp, focusing on the Right to Health as specified in General Comment 14 to Article 12 of the UN International Covenant of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (1966).

His main conclusion is that the right to health of refugees in Moria camp has been violated, both with regards to healthcare and the underlying conditions for health. Read the assessment here.

Last week, our partner Global Health Law Groningen also published a blog written by Adriaan about the bad situation in the Moria refugee camp.
